September 3, 1942 – May 29, 2025
Audelia “Lily” Marie Farias of San Antonio, Texas, entered into eternal rest on May 29, 2025, at the age of 82. She was born on September 3, 1942, in Bluffton, Indiana, to Rafael Gonzalez and Concepcion (Bustos) Gonzalez.
Lily was a strong, determined woman whose life was marked by resilience and hard work. Over the years, she worked in fields, hospitals, and factories—even helping to build semi-trucks during her time at International Harvester—before becoming a hairstylist, a career that brought her much joy. Even after retirement, she continued working part-time as a receptionist at Martha's Hair Studio, where she remained active and connected with others, and enjoyed weekly Bible studies.
Lily loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends. Her happiest moments were often spent in the kitchen, cooking delicious meals and sharing good food. She would make and eat the hottest salsa—always using a minimum of 15 peppers. We would joke with her and say, “Wella, you want some food with that salsa?” She especially cherished visits from her sisters who traveled from Indiana. In her later years, Lily found great joy in traveling, especially going on cruises and visiting the beach—two of her favorite pastimes.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Farias Sr.; her daughter, Rita Marquez, and son-in-law, Robert Marquez; her grandchildren: Nathan J. Fair, Jessica L. Navarro (husband Felix A. “Tony” Navarro), Monica Gomez, and Krystal S. Farias; her sister, Manulita (Nellie) Risden, and brother-in-law, Mike Risden; her sister-in-law, Esperanza Gonzalez; and brother-in-law, Louis Ramirez.
She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren: Christian A. Navarro, Brandyn A. Navarro, Adrian A. Navarro, Kandy S. Navarro, Evyn A. Navarro, Selest Navarro, Brianna Navarro, Ernest Vargas, Luis Ruiz, Jimmy Ruiz, and Shayla Marquez, as well as numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Lily was preceded in death by her parents, Rafael and Concepcion Gonzalez; her son, Richard “El Rick” Farias; her grandson, Justin S. Moore; and her siblings: Vera Ramirez, Mike Gonzalez (Phyllis Gonzalez), Mary Garcia, Charlie Gonzalez, Joe Gonzalez (Sherry Gonzalez), Christopher Gonzalez, and Susie Perez (Robert Perez).
Lily will be remembered for her strength, warmth, humor, and the love she poured into her family. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished in our hearts.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” – Psalm 23:1
