With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Augustin Reyna, who entered eternal rest on July 23, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on April 27, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas, to Maximo Reyna and Hermengilda Santellan Reyna, Augustin lived a full and vibrant life rooted in love, service, and community.
A proud United States Marine Corps veteran, Augustin served his country with honor during the Vietnam War, where he faced the hardships of combat with courage, resilience, and deep loyalty to his fellow Marines. His time in Vietnam shaped his strength, humility, and unwavering sense of duty. Though he rarely spoke of the battlefield, his sacrifice and dedication were evident in the quiet strength he carried throughout his life. He returned home with a deep appreciation for life and a passion for service, continuing to support fellow veterans through his longtime involvement with VFW Post 76 in San Antonio.
Whether running laps around Woodlawn Lake, dancing with joy, casting a line while fishing, or playing in a local pool league, Augustin embraced each day with energy and enthusiasm. His creative spirit was reflected in his love for coloring and crossword puzzles, and he remained young at heart through softball games and his deep appreciation for music. More than anything, Augustin cherished time spent with his beloved family.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength carried on by his devoted wife, Hilda G. Reyna; his children: Augustin Reyna Jr. (Veronica), Larry D. Reyna, Arturo M. Reyna (Priscilla), Tina E. Cruz (Ricky), and Pamela J. Cardenas (Samuel); his sister Janie Adame (Sal); 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews who will always hold him close in their hearts.
Augustin is reunited in eternal peace with his parents, Maximo and Hermengilda Reyna; his grandchildren Samuel Cardenas Jr. and Roland A. Cardenas; and his siblings: Eulalio Reyna, Joaquin Reyna, Victoriano Reyna, Jose Reyna, Linda Cruz, Nicholas Reyna, Pedro Reyna, Pablo Reyna, Marla Isabel, Reyes Sanchez, Maria Guadalupe, Domingo Reyna, and Maria.
Augustin’s joyful spirit, loving heart, and steadfast courage will be remembered and celebrated by all who were blessed to know him. His memory will continue to shine brightly in the lives he touched.
