

Avery Jude Chester Sr. 62, of San Antonio,Texas passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 13, 1962, a native of Crowley, Louisiana. Avery dedicated his life to service, both in the military and in his community.
Avery proudly served in the United States Navy from 1980 to 2004, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer, Hospital Corpsmen. His military career took him to various parts of the world, including tours in Japan, Guam, & Italy. He also served in two wars, Beirut Lebanon (1982), and the Gulf War (1990), where he earned numerous commendations for his bravery and leadership. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and he was a source of inspiration to all who knew him. Avery also attended Wayland Baptist University were he received his Bachelors of Applied Science and Master of Arts in Management.
Following his military service, Avery continued to serve his community as a substitute teacher and a track coach for Judson ISD. Known for his compassion, hard work, and dedication, he left a lasting impact on those he served and worked alongside.
Avery is preceded in death by father, Curley Chester Sr., sisters, Delphine B. Chester, Pashine Broussard & Ursula Jones.
Avery is survived by his wife, Shrhonda R. Chester, his children, Avery J. Chester Jr. (Anna Chester), Kira K. Chester, & Zaria Z. Chester. His mother, Vernice Chester Angel, his brother, Curley Chester Jr.
His grandchildren, Avania M. Chester, Alayna J. Chester, Karson K. Chester, Alyssa R. Chester, & Avery T. Chester. And a host of family and friends at home and abroad.
The family would like to thank Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans Hospital, University Hospital, and Methodist Hospital Northeast staff for the care and support of our loved one. We wish to thank family and friends for their kind words, good deeds, and expressions of sympathy.
