Avery was a devoted and loving mother to her beloved child, Taylor Michael Reyes, who was the center of her world. She was also a cherished sister to Blayke and Coleman McElligott, with whom she shared a lifelong bond of love and loud laughter. A thoughtful and compassionate friend to many, and dedicated, silly colleague.
Avery was known for her radiant smile that could light up a room and her striking blue eyes. She had such resilience and truly took life head on for anything that came her way. She was so cryptic with her dark humor, beyond hilarious and incredibly witty with her comebacks and jokes. Her aura was like sunshine, such a bright light wherever she was. Always busting out in full of energy, talking loud and fast, laughing even louder. Drawn to the unusual and the mysterious, she had a rare gift for understanding, caring, and embracing anyone surrounding her and her eclectic taste in music had everyone listening at any gathering.
She pursued her passion for caring for others by earning a degree in mortuary science. She worked as an embalmer with great dedication and professionalism, serving families during some of their most difficult moments. Her work at Porter Loring Mortuaries reflected her deep compassion, respect for life, and her always apparent morbid curiosity.
Avery is survived by her son, Taylor Michael, and son‘s father David Reyes; mother, Katherine McElligott; sister, Blayke McElligott; brother, Coleman McElligott; aunts, Tricia McElligott and Devin Shipley; uncle, John Shipley; cousin, John J.
