I worked with Col Henzler when he was on active duty. My deepest sympathy to the family during this time of grief.

In addition to the service he gave to his country during his Air Force career, Al was a tremendous help to OCS Class 62A in locating our fellow class members. His efforts helped us to enjoy old memories and create new ones at our class reunions. He will be sorely missed 'til we meet again at that biggest of all reunions.

Al was always a welcome sight when he arrived at our 6WSAA Reunions. We were expecting his this year, but will miss him and his companion at the one this June 2003. My condolences to all his loved ones, I will miss him too.

Al was one of the really good people we have the privilege of knowing as we travel through life. As a class mate of OCS Class 62A we shared a difficult time, and he was always there to help.

From the darkest days of OCS to the shining times when we were all young and eager eagles, we have been sustained by "Duty, Honor and Faithful Service to our beloved country. Rest easy, comrade.

Al was a focused and dedicated volunteer throughout the city of San Antonio and the Air Force. His accomplishments were numerous. He will be missed by all.

Thanks for the memories of OCS 62-A and for all that you did for our comrades in arms. The good ones always go young and you were a good one.

I enjoyed visiting with him at the reunions and am sorry another of us is gone. God Bless.

I met Al when I was setting up the first reunion for OCS Class 58A which we scheduled for June 2000. We had a very enjoyable visit and talked about OCS and our careers. He was a great help to me in setting up arrangement for us to attend a parade and be recognized during our reunion. After that, I worked with him in getting contacts with other OCS Classes. It is with deep regret that I read about his passing. Please accept my sincere condolences.

The few short months that we all "knew" each other were short indeed. But it was the beginning of a life-long camradery for all of us that will continue for the rest of our lives. Al worked with the alumni of many classes of OCS in an effort to facilitate the contact with each other...He has now joined that well-known group better known as "gone but not forgotten." Al was a good man, and we will all miss him sadly.

On behalf of OCS Class 58-A, you will be remembered and missed. May God grant you eternal peace and rest.

We were shocked to hear of Al's death. He was a great classmate and of enormous help to all of us from OCS Class 62B. He helped so much in getting all of us together. He will be missed but not forgotten. He stood tall in OCS and stands tall today. He will always be with us. If there is anything we can do at this time of sorrow, please let us know. I well remember Al from our early days of OCS at Lackland AFB. We were all rattled from the outset back then, but he had the perserverance to hang in and fight for the commission he eventually won. We'll miss him.

As an underclassman of Al's at OCS, I will miss another who has done his duty.

We mourn the passage of our patriots and pray that they can now go in peace.

Al was my friend who walked me down the aisle to meet my future husband in 1989. He was my big brother who comforted me and listened to me when my marriage was over.I wanted to share with his family that I was the Assistant Chief, Base Administration, Torrejon AB, Spain, 1983-85 when Al was USAFE Vice Deputy Commander for Administration 1983-85. His immediate supervisor was Colonel Bill Nation, a former USAF SAC Deputy Cmdr, Admin. I shall miss my best friend,Al. I Salute Him into Eternity. I wish to pass my sympathies to his daughter, her family, to his mom who will never know, to his brother and family. May you be blessed.

A wonderful friend and classmate has left this earth for a better place. His soft easy going manner was always an insperation to us all. He will be missed.

What a great guy and how sadly he will be missed. He was a super person to work for and so full of enthusiasm. He had such a positive outlook on life that spilled over to others. Thanks Col Henzler for the contributions you made to my life that made me a better human being. Miss you already.

Please accept my most sincere condolences. Al was a classmate of mine at the Air Force Officer Candidate 
School in 1961. Because of the extreme 
stress placed upon students in that program it was not really possible to get to know one's classmates. But I do recall Al from those days and recall that thru sheer fortitude he was able to complete the very difficult program and get his Air Force commission. Al, 
like most of us, was extremely proud of that achievement, as well he should have been. His love for the military service was further displayed by his working tirelessly for retired military members thru his volunteering at the Retired Military Office at Lackland. Many OCS classes can thank Al for being the spark behind their setting up successful reunions for their classes. He was always willing to help and he will be sorely missed.

Al, You will be missed by all your OCS class.

Al was a beloved OCS classmate of mine. He was an outstanding contributor to the Air Force and the country he served. God bless him. He will be sorely missed.

Lt Col Henzler was an example to all of us who worked for him at the Defense Language Institute DLIELC. Always and without fail, we did the job right; it was Al's way to approach every task. He also showed us that a smile and a kind word made our day better. We enjoyed him as his work shifted during retirement to the USO, but he was still "our Colonel Henzler". He touched so many people in a positive, caring way. See you later we're sure from Dick and the Informational Program staff.

I worked with Col Henzler for many years at Lackland AFB. I was extremely impressed with the great work he did making the Lackland Retiree Affairs Office the great unit it is today. Al Henzler was a fine, sweet gentleman. I am saddened by his loss.

For years my wife and I would get a Christmas card signed "Aloysius". We never could figure out who the heck that was until several years later I saw Al's correct name on some USO correspondence. He had a great laugh when I thanked him for all those years of Christmas cards and us not knowing the idendity of the sender. Al was a fine man and I will miss him.

I worked with LtCol Henzler on military pay issues that affected our retiree population. He called me every now and then to get an update on retiree COLA increments and other veteran disability pay issues. He cared about other retirees and will be missed by those who knew him. My thoughts and prayers go to his family.

Working with Al at the USO was always great. Every day he had another joke or funny story to tell. Al was always upbeat and very friendly. The USO will not be the same without him. Our prayers go out to Caryl, Al's family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Al,in his capacity as the Director of the Lackland Retired Activities Office, provided support facilities for our AARP Tax Counseling for the Elderly Program. He was very cooperative, always available and cheerfully made facilities available to us during tax season. He certainly made every effort to see that we got whatever support we needed. He seemed to be always available so I'm sure he spent many hours in his volunteer work as the ROA Director. We will never know how much and how many retired people he helped but he certainly had my admiration. He will be sorely missed.

"El Jefe" as Al often referred to Wilson, and I, Susan, had such a high regard for Al. We shared such humor and life experiences during our R.A.O. duty days on Mondays. We will never forget the dramatic way that our "Col. H." would tell jokes. He had the most unique expressions on his face. He used to smile and say that he "would never go out with a lady who had a good conduct medal". With Al, it was a case of still waters run deep. Yes, he will be missed!! Neither of us is prone to shedding tears, but when we were shocked by his passing, we did do just that for he will not be duplicated. He loved the U.S.O. and took his volunteer duties as both the Retired Activities Office Director at Lackland A.F.B. and the U.S.O. seriously. He "went by the book" all the way.
