Barbara Goss was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She joined our Heavenly Father on June 21, 2023 after battling cancer. A friend described her as “an inspiring woman whose caring nature, sense of humor and ongoing positivity brightened the lives of those around her.”
Born on June 26, 1954 in Delaware to Clarence and Sue Moore, Barbara was the second oldest of three children. They moved to San Antonio when she was very young. Despite her father’s military career, Barbara only had one childhood home. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1972. After graduation, she joined the work force where she met some of her closest friends. Barbara eventually ended up working at Gill S&L where she met Alan Goss, her husband of 40 years. They began their lives together in San Antonio when they married January 15, 1983 and in 1991 moved to Oklahoma.
Barbara enjoyed staying busy. In spite of having two children, Barbara found the time to finish college and graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1999 from the University of Central Oklahoma. She was passionate about nursing where she had an impact on so many people throughout her 20+-year career. Her loving and caring nature won her many accolades throughout that time. In 2008, Alan and Barbara had the opportunity to move back to their home city of San Antonio to be around their family.
In addition to her career, she found the time to dedicate her attention to her family and friends. Barbara enjoyed watching her daughter, Kellie, ride horses and play volleyball and her daughter, Jenna, master her craft of dance. Barbara and Alan enjoyed music and attended many concerts together. They enjoyed vacationing all across the United States and spending time with family.
As an active and involved grandmother, known as “Mimi,” she enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in as many activities as possible such as soccer, volleyball, and softball. She loved her siblings, Mike and Peggy, fiercely. Her friends could always count on her for a game of Bunco or a nice long conversation over a meal while her co-workers could always count on her infectious smile and her willingness to help.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Sue Moore and Mother-in-Law, June Goss along with many other relatives. She is survived by husband, Alan Goss of San Antonio, daughter Kellie Lowe (Jeff) of Bedford, granddaughters Mallory Lowe, Charlotte Lowe, and Kennedy Roberts (Willie) of Bedford, great-granddaughter Josie Roberts, daughter Jenna Goss of San Antonio, granddaughters Lyric Goss and London Goss, brother Mike Moore of San Antonio, nephews Matthew Moore (Carrie) of Moore, OK, Jonathan Moore (Sarah) of Moore, OK, and Davey Bunch of San Antonio, niece Melanie Bunch of San Antonio, sister Peggy Moore-Ramirez (Julian) of San Antonio, dogs Diamond and Dallas and many more in-laws and nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank Alejandra Aguilar and Latrice McNeil for their loving care.
The funeral service will be held on June 29, 2023 at 10 AM (doors will open at 9:30 AM for a public viewing) at Bethany United Methodist Church, followed by a graveside service and reception at Sunset. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Duke Cancer Institute or Headforthecure.org.
