Barbara Jean Heyer passed away peacefully at the age of 78 in San Antonio, TX, from complications related to a stroke . She was born on June 6, 1945, in Detroit, MI to Frank and Veronica Brodacki. Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Vincent W. Heyer, brother Robert Brodacki, and her parents. Barbara is survived by her children Vincent R. Heyer, Kristen Heyer; grandson Brandon Heyer; great-grandson Cooper Heyer and her sister-in-law Janice Heyer.
Barbara was born and raised in the Detroit area. As a young lady, she competed in the Miss St. Clair Shores Pageant. After graduating from Lakeshore High School, she attended Michigan State University, and it was during her sophomore year while back at home and out with her friends, she met her future husband. Vince and Barbara were married soon thereafter and were married for 58 years. In 1971, the young family moved to San Antonio where she focused on raising their two children. She volunteered at Northeast Methodist Hospital for a few years in the late 1980’s and she helped run the family business, Northside Towing, until they retired.
Throughout the years, she enjoyed spending time with their different pets, most recently her beloved cat Pumpkin. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing frequently with her husband Vince and their friends. She also enjoyed weekly games of dominoes with her long time friends. She was a loving wife and an exceptional mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had a wonderful sense of humor and she was a very kind-hearted woman who will be greatly missed.
No service or memorial will be held, but she will be cremated and interred at Sunset Memorial Park at 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
