Barbara Elaine Karnes

Barbara was born to Gomerray Allen and Ellen Allen (Kunzman), April 29th, 1942, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma but grew up in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She lived most of her adult life in Westminster, California before moving to San Antonio, TX in early 1983.

She was married to Frank Oexman and they lived together in San Antonio, Texas until his passing in 2010. She is survived by: Ruth Rogers (Daughter) and Jesse Karnes (Son). She also leaves to cherish her memory siblings Jerry (Betty) Allen, Daphne Winberg, Darrell Allen, and Wendell Allen (Marilyn). Her grandchildren include Rafael Karnes, Justin Rogers (Carolina), Meghan Cannon, Tiffany Shortle (Cody), and Katrina Lowrey (Jason). She also leaves behind six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by: Frank Oexman (Husband), Dennis Allen (Brother), Michael Allen (nephew), Larry Winberg (Brother in law), and her parents Gomerray and Ellen Allen.

Barbara worked for Sysco for many years eventually retiring around age 65. She enjoyed quilting, painting, and reading many books. She was filled with memories and stories of her past that she enjoyed sharing with family and friends.

A celebration of life is scheduled for August 29th, 2024 with visitation from 9:30am-10:30am with the funeral services from 10:30am-11:30am at Sunset Funeral Home located at 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. Committal will be held from 11:30am-12:00pm at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery located at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
