

Ben was born in Midland, Texas to Benjamin Dee and Hazel Marie Graham Ethridge on September 6, 1939. He went to school in Monahans. He married Linda Hall on June 11, 1962 in Odessa. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1964. That year, his long career as a pharmacist began in Fort Worth, Texas at The Harris Methodist Hospital and in 1970 at The Fort Worth Children’s Hospital as the Director of Pharmacy and Central Sterile Supply. In 1973, he moved to San Antonio and began working at Santa Rosa Medical Center as the Director of Materials Management until 1987. He was moved to the Director of Pharmacy Services for Santa Rosa Health Care Corporation; retiring from hospital work in 1992. That same year, he embarked on a second career with the State of Texas as an inspector for the Pharmaceutical Board retiring from there in 2012.
His professional organizations included The American Society of Hospital Pharmacist, Texas Society of Hospital Pharmacist, Central Texas Society of Hospital Pharmacists, North Central Texas Society of Hospital Pharmacist, University of Texas Ex-Student Association Life-Time Member.
Ben had many honors and accomplishments in his pharmacy career. He was the Past-President of Texas Society of Hospital Pharmacists, House of Delegates of American Society of Hospital Pharmacists, Past-President of North Central Texas Society Pharmacists, Board of Director of Texas Pharmaceutical Association, Founder and Executive Director of TSHP Educational and Research Foundation, Dean’s Advisory Council of The Association Task Force Chairman, Practitioner Faculty Member for The University of Texas College of Pharmacy, Intern Instructor/Preceptor for Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
As much as he loved his family, he loved his Longhorns. Hook ‘em!
Ben is preceded in death by his parents and sister.
Ben is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Linda Hall Ethridge; his daughters Suellis Moore (Ronnie) of Kingsbury TX and Mandee Friesenhahn (Blaine) of New Braunfels TX; his son Joel Ethridge (Adriana) of Laredo TX. His grandchildren whom he was very proud of: Bailee Ahee of Barrington NH, Corey & Chad Friesenhahn of New Braunfels TX; Donovan, Devan & Dylan Ethridge of Laredo TX; and his great-granddaughter Hazel Ahee.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home, San Antonio, Texas.
