To the Guerrero Family, My deepest sincere sympothies for your loss. I did know the passing of my uncle until i was searching for history of SGM Guerrero. I only met him once during a family reunion in Kerrville, Texas a few years ago and he was a very outspoken and generous person. I wish i would have meet him sooner, however due to family being so large and scattered through the U.S. it is very difficult. Talk about a true American hero. Bennie was one of my Army Instructors when I attended TMI from 1969-1972. He was also our rifle team coach. More importantly, he was a man who helped mold my life. He will be forever missed. Pierce Broach

I was honored to pay respects Sunday to Sgt. Maj. Guerrero. When I met him in the 1960s, he was a platoon sergeant and assigned to my high school, Texas Military Institute. I last saw Sgt. Guerrero several years ago at Fort Sam Houston, and he gave me an abrazo. I have his photo in my office at Trinity University, and will always remember him. On behalf of myself and my husband Tom, I offer my deepest condolences to Ingrid, Rick, Greg and his family for your great loss. It is so hard to believe that my dearest cousin is gone. He was the glue that held the Velasquez family together, the organizer of our family reunions, the one person we could all count on for anything. He was such a caring person, and I am so grateful to him and Ingrid for always being there for my mom and dad. They thought the world of Bennie and Ingrid. I am sure they are having a great reunion in heaven with all the other relatives. Bennie will never be forgotten for we have the memories of his love and friendship to carry us on always. Rest in peace querido primo.

It is with much sadness that I write this tribute for such a great man. When I was a little girl, Bennie was in and out of Abuelita Chavela's house and I always admired him so much, even though he scared me alittle. His voice and his demeanor was always so powerful I knew he was very important and special. As I grew up, I came to know Bennie as someone with strength, family pride and loyalty. How lucky we have been to have such a great man lead the Guerrero Family. I wish with all of my heart that I could be home today to be with my family during this time. Ben will be greatly missed by our family. He was a true friend to us, especially after my own father passed away. I find comfort knowing that Ben was greeted by my dad as he entered Heaven. I believe that! He was one of my father's best friends, and he will be truly missed. Heaven has gained another angel!!!!

My cousin Benny was the head of the 2nd generation Guerrero Family. He was in strongest link of our family chain. He was the head of the Guerero family and held that position with honor and class. He gave us so much pride and honor to be a Guerrero. Rest in PEACE Cuz. Job well done.

Although I did not personally know Mr. Guerrero, I have been friends with his son, Greg, for most of my life. I have heard wonderful stories and have seen many photos which have shown me what an amazing man he was. You should all be SO proud to have had such a man in your lives.
