

Bennie LaVerne Potter departed this world on Saturday December 19, 2020 in Frisco, Texas. She was born on June 23,1926 in Center, Texas to Renzie and Ora Wagonner Baggett. She grew up in San Augustine, Texas, known as "The cradle of Texas" .and by age seven had learned piano and was invited to play in churches of all denominations around San Augustine. She graduated from San Augustine High School and attended Stephen F, Austin College in Nacogdoches. At the young age of 17 she became a Southwestern Bell telephone operator during World War II at Beaumont, Texas, then meeting her future husband Jim, who was in the military stationed in Port Arthur, Tx providing security for Liberty ships.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Brothers: Kirk Baggett Bainbridge, Ga, Jerry Baggett Tyler, Tx and Montee Baggett of Slidell La. She is survived by two sons: Michael Potter of Corpus Christi, George Potter of Frisco, Tx, Grandson David Potter of Frisco, Tx and Great Granddaughter Annali Potter also of Frisco, Texas; Other Nephews and Niece in Louisiana, Texas and Georgia; and many students and great friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Prairie Estates Frisco, Tx. and Elysian Hospice Care for their Friendship, support and care of our Mother over the years.
Visitation will be held Monday January 4th 6 pm-8 pm at Sunset Memorial park and Funeral Home,1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio 78218. A graveside Service Will be Tuesday January 5th at 10:30 am held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, Shelter #3 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd. San Antonio.
