

Benny Z. Puente Jr., age 49, of San Antonio, TX, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family, on November 3, 2024. He was a devoted husband to Alejandra Puente and a loving father to Benjamin (12), William (10), and Abigail (8). Benny’s presence and humor brought joy to everyone around him, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories.
Early Life and FamilyBorn on September 17, 1975, in San Antonio, TX, to Benny Puente and Maria Nelly Puente, Benny grew up alongside his two younger sisters, Annie Lorraine Cardenas and Veronica Carrillo. His childhood was filled with a fascination for robotics, Star Wars, and superheroes. Known for his love of classic westerns, he could quote lines from his favorite films with ease, embodying the spirit of rugged heroes he admired.
Education and CareerBenny graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. During his time there, he was actively involved in student organizations, including:

Benny began his career as a Case Worker with the Texas Workforce Commission, serving for eight years. He then worked with youthful offenders at the Southwest Key Program and later as a Life Skills Worker at the Campbell Griffin Center. Ultimately, he found his calling as an Adult Probation Officer for Bexar County, a role he faithfully fulfilled for 18 years, reflecting his deep dedication to helping others.
Personal Life and InterestsBenny was a proud Texan and patriot with a bold personality and deep love for history, politics, and country music. Though he was rarely seen smiling in photos, he had a sharp, dark humor and loved pulling pranks, always finding ways to make those around him laugh. To his friends and family, he was a man of strong convictions, quiet warmth, and a steady presence that brought both laughter and strength to their lives.
Celebration of LifeAs we come together to honor his memory, let us remember the laughter, insight, and unwavering love he brought into our lives. Though he has left us, his spirit and impact remain. We are grateful for the memories we shared with him.
