

He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher, and childhood sweetheart of 65 years, Dorothy Mae (Dottie) Wichlep. Surviving are children, Debbie, Linda, Barbie & Fremont; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; brother Charles Regini and wife Carolyn.
After his graduation from the United States Military Academy, he began a thirty year career as an army officer including: serving during World War II, and four overseas assignments: Japan, Korea, Germany, and Viet Nam. Bernie was an active member in military parishes, overseas and the US, as well as diocesan parishes in US, assuming leadership roles in parish ministries and Church organizations. Here in San Antonio, Bernie was prominently involved at St. John Neumann Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. In 2001 he was invested as a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. Bernie touched the lives of many others through his deep spiritual devotion, his unwavering fidelity, his sincere friendliness, his personal example, his genuine concern for others, and his undying love.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Sunset Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian burial at 11:30 am on Thursday, October 17, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 6680 Crestway Dr.
Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, please offer Masses or contribute to the St. Vincent de Paul Fund, St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
