Bertha was born on March 16, 1925 in San Isidro, Texas. Bertha moved to San Antonio as a young woman where she attended Business College.
Shortly after graduating she began working at Sunshine Laundry and made it a 42 year career. This is where she met her beloved husband, Huntley, who worked next door at San Antonio Armature Works. They were married on June 7, 1953 and lived in Monte Vista their entire life together until his passing in 1990.
She spent her later years devoted to her grandchildren and volunteering her time at Santa Rosa Hospital. She was a devoted member of the St. Ann's Catholic Church Altar Society, Bereavement Committee and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Her favorite hobby was making flowers for the altar of the church every Sunday for Mass. We will always remember our precious Bertha cheering for the Spurs and lighting up the room with her presence and beautiful smile. She loved life and people and made the best of everyday she was given on this earth. She joined her Lord in peace lovingly surrounded by her family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, Huntley R. Bell; her parents, Celso and Arcadia Duran; siblings, Guadalupe, Sofia and Sandra Duran and Eva Garcia.
She is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline Puchot and Sandra Mohammadi; sons-in-law, John Puchot and Farokh Mohammadi; grandchildren, Carter Hahn, Brett and Ehren Mohammadi; sister, Emma Garza; nephews, Ruben Garcia and Efrain Barrera; and niece, Becky De Los Santos.
Bertha's family would like to thank the staffs at Fresenius Medical Care, Stone Oak Care Center, Odyssey Hospice and her doctors for their loving and devoted care.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 17, 2010 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
