It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of Bertha F. Canales, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, who peacefully departed this life on May 14, 2025 at the age of 76.
Bertha was born on September 8, 1948 to Eutimio R. Flores and Manuela Sauceda Gonzales, who she now rejoins in heaven. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Rosemarie Rodriguez and her parents in law, who she lovingly cared for, Gabriel G. Canales and Delfina Gonzales.
Bertha lived a life marked by faith, creativity, and love. A devoted wife of 59 years to her husband Gabriel, the love of her life. A devout Catholic, her unwavering belief in God was the foundation of her life. She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Leonard Catholic Church and a member of the Guadalupanas, where she found both solace and strength, and where her generous spirit touched many lives.
She had a special gift for turning ordinary moments into celebrations. She was known for her incredible baking—her cakes were so delicious and they graced countless birthdays, holidays, and gatherings. Her love for the holidays was unmatched. No matter the season, her home was always a reflection of joy and festivity—decorated from top to bottom with her own flower arrangements put together with warmth and care. From twinkling Christmas lights to pastel Easter wreaths and autumn centerpieces, she made every holiday feel magical and full of meaning. She loved her family dearly, especially being the caring Momo to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the ones who brought the most joy to her life. Her entire family will forever remember her not just for her beautiful cakes, cozy home, and holiday cheer, but for the deep love she gave so freely. Her legacy is one of faith, generosity, and a joy for life’s simple but most meaningful moments.
We are so grateful to have had this amazing woman in our lives to love and be loved by her. We will cherish her and all our precious memories with her.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Gabriel Canales; loving children, Debbie Martinez, Sally Salazar (Agustin), Gabriel E. Canales (Diana) and Rebecca McRinna (William); grandchildren, Vanessa, Briana (Andre), Sammy, Tristen (Rosie), Leanna (Noel), Jayson, Jazzmin, Amanda, Allison, Joshua, Alyssa (Samantha) and Elijah; great grandchildren, Justin, Daniel, Serenity, Lily, Arianna, Ronan, Luke, Grayson, Gino, Hailey, Tre, Milani, and Isabella.
