

Betty was born in Watonga, OK to Olen and Virgie Powers on December 10, 1934. She went to primary and high school at Watonga. She met her future husband Emily Everett Taylor while attending a year at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK. She married Emily on July 15, 1954 in Hobart, OK. On September 27, 1954, Emily entered the USAF. Betty was with him during his entire enlistment. She briefly worked outside the home prior to having children. Once she had children, she was a proud homemaker and mother for the rest of her life. While her children were young, she sold Avon. She was also heavily involved in Girl Scouts and the PTA. Once the family settled in San Antonio in 1979, she became involved at Marbach Christian Church. In 1987 they moved to Cornerstone Church and served as a volunteer for Pastoral Care with her husband Emily. They volunteered at Cornerstone Church for over 30 years.
Betty is survived by her sister, Doris June Ware, along with her four children; Peggy and Brian Carrico, Karen Stiles, Don and Suzanne Taylor, and Mark and Dorothy Taylor; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
There will be no visitation or viewing.
Funeral services are to be held at the graveside only. Betty is scheduled to be interred at 10 a.m. on April 21, 2026 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, shelter 1.
Memorials may be given to Sanctuary of Hope children’s home.
