Billy C. Cox, age 75, passed away on November 23, 2025, in Windcrest, Texas. He was born on August 29, 1950, in Texas City, Texas, to Johnny and Margaret Cox. Billy grew up in Victoria, TX, and was a proud graduate of Victoria High School. He went on to attend Blinn Junior College before earning his degree from Lamar University in 1971.
Billy faithfully served his country in the Army Reserves and during the Vietnam War for six years.
In 1970, he married the love of his life, Charlotte L. Guilbeau, and together they welcomed one son. Billy devoted more than 20 years to education as a coach and history teacher at Flour Bluff ISD and Brackenridge High School, where he shaped countless young lives on and off the field.
Outside of the classroom, Billy found joy in hunting, fishing, and golfing—pastimes that brought him peace and camaraderie. To his family, friends, former students, and players, he will always be remembered simply and fondly as “Coach,” a title he was proud to carry throughout his life. He was also a mentor to many young men, offering guidance that extended far beyond the game.
Billy is preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Cox Jr.; his mother, Margaret Ann Krueger; and his father, Johnny Cox Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Cox; his son, Kelly Cox; his brother, King Terry Cox; and numerous beloved cousins, including Stonie Cox, Rocky Cox, Sissy Cox, Brent Blanar, and Bryan Blanar. He is also survived by his aunt, JoAnn Blanar; sister-in-law, Deborah Gilbeau; and brother-in-law, Joe Guilbeau.
His presence, leadership, and steady encouragement will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
