

Billy Hugh Cunningham, age 87 was called to his eternal home by his Lord and Saviour on December 23, 2014. He was born September 12, 1927 to Rev. Wylie and Grace Cunningham in Princeton, Texas. He graduated from Greenville Texas High School and attended East Texas State University. He retired from the Air Force where he was assigned to the Office of Special Investigations (OSI) conducting criminal, personal, and counter intelligence investigations. After his retirement from the USAF, he was employed by the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office, retiring after 25 years, where he made a bit of history by being the first investigator to ever work there long enough to retire, having worked under six District Attorneys. He received the Chuck Dennis Award for Distinguished Service from the Texas District & County Attorneys Association and also served as a Board Member of the Investigation Section of that organization. He was a Greeter at the McCullough Street entrance of First Baptist Church for over 20 years. He was also a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Glynn Cunningham, sisters Vivian Thompson, Veta Shields, and Grace Shields. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Zella, a son Robert S. (Stan) and wife Susan, a daughter Barbara Lansford and husband Mark, granddaughters Allison and Kelly Cunningham, Julie and Laura Duve, Robyn Brittain and husband Terrell, also seven great-granchildren. Memorial service will be Monday, December 29 at 2:00 PM in Wilson Chapel of First Baptist Church. Should friends desire, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of San Antonio TV Ministry.
