She was born in Laredo, TX to Juan Gutierrez and Paula Gutierrez (Perez) on October 5,1940. She graduated from Laredo Martin High School Class of 1959. On November 9, 1963 she married the love of her life, Jesus Garcia Jr. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Laredo, Texas. Theirs was a true love story, a love without end that will be fondly remembered by many.
Blanca enjoyed many hobbies in her time on this earth. She loved playing Loteria, cooking and baking, reading, harvesting her vegetables, smelling her rose bushes, but most of all she loved her Hallmark Christmas movies. Oh, how she loved Christmas! Blanca had quite the collection of Christmas decorations, and every year she added to it– whether purchased herself or it was gifted, as those that loved her knew her love of the holiday. She would often joke about just how many Santa Clauses she had! In her downtime you could find her sitting on her chair watching a Hallmark movie or reading. Blanca would pray constantly and instilled the power of prayer in her children.
She loved her big family that she and Jesus created together. She started a tradition of Sunday dinners where every Sunday she and her son, Juan, would cook for the family, and anyone was invited to share in the feast. Everyone often remained seated after these meals, and some of our fondest memories lay in those moments of quality time and shared conversation at the family table.
Blanca will be missed greatly. She was the light in anyone’s day, always with a smile on her face and a laugh that all will remember. She had a genuine, caring soul and was everyone’s cheerleader. Even if she only met you briefly or merely heard about your struggles, she would make sure to always ask about you and keep you in her prayers. She sure knew how to welcome people, and made anyone feel like family.
Blanca is preceded in death by her husband Jesus Garcia Jr., her parents, her brother Juan Gutierrez Jr., and her sister Irma Gutierrez.
She is survived by her children Jesus Garcia III (Graciela), Blanca A. Wakeland (Clarke), Juan L. Garcia, Sylvia G.
