Brandon Torrance Russell

Brandon Torrance Russell, age 35, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2014. He was born in San Antonio, TX on June 13, 1979 to Torrance Woodward Russell, III and Neilana Mims Russell. His formative years were spent in San Antonio and in Austin, TX, graduating from Churchill High School and The University of Texas at Austin.

Brandon, after living in Spain during some of his college years, became passionate about world travel and did not hesitate to take a trip when the opportunity arose. Though his trips are too numerous to list it is worth mentioning that his most recent adventure was to Cartagena, Colombia. Another passion he followed was running, and became quite accomplished earning an untold number of medals for his racing. This aspect and interest also led him to become involved with Team In Training, which is a group that runs to raise awareness and funds to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. His beloved mother, Neilana Mims Russell, was fighting Acute Myeloid Leukemia and this charity held a special place in his heart. Sadly, his mother, after fighting the most courageous fight one could imagine, succumbed to her illness and passed away on June, 6, 2015.

His infectious personality and enormous heart are and will continue to be greatly missed. Brandon, he was the life of the party. His friends will tell you that he was "the guy that had 100 best friends and no enemies". The world has lost a shining light with his passing. We will not forget. We love you Brando!!!

He is preceded in death by his father, Torrance Woodward Russell, III; paternal grandparents, Torrance Woodward Russell Jr. and Patty Sue Russell; maternal grandparents, Bertha Saunders and Neil Mims; uncle, Capt. Wayne Parker; and his cousins Darren Parker and Shelley Lee Doucette.

Brandon is survived by his brother, Jason Woodward Russell and wife Erin and their children, Grant, Brownlee and Kirby; sister, Megan Mims Brett and husband Evan and their son, Preston; and numerous other family and friends.

A memorial celebration of Brandon Torrance Russell's life will be held Saturday, August 22, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
