Brent Thomas Christian, born on August 30, 1960, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Austin, Texas. Brent was born and raised in San Antonio, the beloved son of Dr. Tommy and Barbara Christian. He graduated from Alamo Heights High School, where he was on the golf team. Brent pledged Phi Delta Theta at Southern Methodist University, and later transferred to Trinity University to receive a degree in geology. Many of his high school buddies and fraternity brothers have remained lifelong friends.
Brent always loved rocks and the outdoors, and spent his adult life exploring the earth's subsurface. He practiced geology in the South Texas oil patch, enjoying the hunt for the big discovery. After the oil downturn, Brent crossed into the field of hydrology, and began working with various companies across the U.S. in water management. For the past 7 years, he worked at the Texas Water Development Board, reviewing conservation plans and monitoring aquifer levels. Brent loved and took pride in his work.
During his youth, Brent spent happy summer days at his grandparents house in Port Aransas, where he surfed, fished and played poker. We have fond memories of performing bikini patrol from the back of the jeep, and fishing out of Woodys Boat Basin. He was also an avid hunter of deer, dove and quail, and enjoyed the companionship of his friends on ranches and in the border towns of South Texas.
Brent loved animals, especially his loyal yellow lab, Roxy. Brent is survived by his mother Barbara Christian and aunt Mary Elizabeth Christian of San Antonio, and uncle David Christian, sister and brother-in-law Cynthia and Patrick Shea, niece Anne Shea and nephews Austin and George Shea, all of Austin. Roxy has been welcomed into the Shea home, where she will be a happy memory of our lost loved one.
