Bruce is my first cousin, once removed! The only memories I have of him are so, so very funny. My favorite memory is when he did the splits at my mom's halloween party. If heaven needed someone to make everyone laugh, then they picked the perfect man.

 I was so sorry to hear abour your brother. I didn't know he was ill. I lost my brother the same way at 50. He was a brilliant engineer. I read the tributes about Bruce and wish I had known him. He sounds like such a great person. You and your family will be in my prayers and know that Scott is probably already said hello.

We will never forget Bruce's spontaneity, quirkiness, musical genius and his natural ability to connect with anyone and everyone. He was such a giver, and we received gratefully. Something we didn't know about him: he could sing like Josh Groban!

The memorial service was very fitting and wonderfully done. Myself and many others associated with the Edgewood ISD FIRST robotics team will miss him, his energy and commitment to the team and the students.

I knew Bruce so many years ago. We costarred in many First Presbyterian Church's productions, including HMS Pinafore. I was his Josephine and he was my Ralph, and we had a running joke about who went out last for curtain calls we wound up going at the same time and meeting in the middle. 
Above all else, I remember his talent and his laughter. I haven't seen him in many years, but I know how much he will be missed.

We were so blessed to have such a great cousin for 53 years! He was one of a kind - vibrant, smart, funny, adventurous, loving. We will miss him deeply! Our deepest condolences go out to the family, we do love you guys so much!

Bruce was one of the smartest & most giving people I've known. He inspired young people through music, creative technology, and general goofiness to be better people and to learn about the world in which they live. He met death by brain cancer with courage and dignity. He was a ham who wanted everyone else to join him in the picture; he loved science & technology, music, kids, dogs, and puzzles; his enthusiasm for life spilled out all around him. He set examples that should inspire us all.

Few families are as special as the Dr Mather family. Full of the freedom to follow their dreams and to show the importance of being together as a family spreading laughter and love to all. Many many thanks to Dr Bruce, Traceys beloved husband.

I worked for Bruce at SwRI and have always thought he was a nice and caring person. He will be missed.

I remember Bruce from CHUMC in San Antonio. I was a dorky kid and he took me under his wing, made me laugh, showed me how to thoroughly enjoy life. He will be missed tremendously.

My Funny Brucey, that is how I will always remember him, his laugh that could be heard three rooms away, and a bear hug that would swallow you up,intelligence that was way beyond my comprehension, but his humor could make everybody laugh.

Even though we did not personally know Bruce, we have prayed for him and your family over the years. Duane and Naomi our extremely dear to us, and have kept us updated with all his triumphs and trials. We know he is at peace now, and we pray that you too we come to be at peace. Our prayers will continue.

The Gray family will miss Bruce so much. He had a great impact on us as a whole - from technical to non technical to Broadway.

Tracey, our hearts go out to you and your beautiful family. Bruce left us knowing he married a wonderful woman with great children and stepchildren. I still have the pictures from the 2007 prom dinner where he graciously volunteered to be "master of ceremonies" handing out the oscars..lol he was a hit and his witty jokes were great. I sat next to Bruce in Physics at Prospect High School in Mt. Prospect, Il. Jenny Risteen, another singer in H.S. posted Bruce's passing on Facebook. I just pulled out my yearbook and Bruce signed it saying to remember E=MC2 and P.S. Pi= 3.14159and then he had about 10 more digits!He was a genius. He was my lab partner. He was a nerdy kid and he was my friend. He went to U of I and I went to Purdue. I did not see him again after High School. What I am so happy to hear is that Bruce Mather has a wonderful wife and great kids and that he pursued his dreams and used his talents. He was in Swing Choir in H.S. I hope and pray that Bruce is singing his heart out in heaven and that I will see him again someday. To his wife and kids...great guy your husband and dad! He left an imprint even when he was 18! Great friend. Great colleague. Great mentor. Great family man. Full of life. Bruce beautifully sang the Lord's Prayer at our wedding and to this day it still warms our hearts when we replay it or even just remember it. We are sure he touched others' lives in meaningful ways.

Dear Family and Friends, Bruce touched my life by serving on Emmaus Men's Walk 1564 music team. He became an immediate friend and showed his passion for being a servant while encouraging, supporting, and helping me as the Lay Director. Of all his worldly talent, his musical inspiration gave a spirit to the team and the pilgrims. He was there to support the Coker gathering in March of 2011. This was when I last saw him and had a chance to visit. I only regret that I not befriended him sooner. I am saddened but he had one more chance to teach me about life and faith in this kingdom. To the wonderful family of Bruce Mather. Our good fortune was knowing Bruce when he was small...tuning up on a garden in preparation for playing the French Horn, baking a cake for his mother's birthday. Time was of the essence so he turned to oven up to 500 to hurry it up. A crisp chocolate cake is actually quite tasty! Always asking about our family, the boys and their children. Bruce was a gift to us all. We loved his exurberance and his brilliant mind. What a fun person. We were so lucky to see Bruce, Steve, Ted in their growing-up years. There has never been, or ever will be, anyone quite like Bruce Mather. He was such a wonderful person and incredible friend. He had so many gifts and talents, along with an incredible sense of humor and brilliant mind. And such a good, big heart. He will be deeply missed here on Earth.

Tracey, Zoe, and All: It was such an honor just to know Bruce. Great heart, great sense of humor, great brains -- but best of all he was a wonderful Child of God and set an example for the rest of us. When I think of Bruce's basic goodness, my heart smiles.
