Bryan Santos Balagtas, a cherished father, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, in San Antonio, at the age of 46. Born on September 23, 1979, in San Diego, California, Bryan's infectious laughter and loving nature left a deep and lasting impression on everyone he met.
Bryan survived by his four children Jake, Leilani, Gabriel, and Kai Balagtas, as well as Matthew Gage, who were the center of his world. Bryan's legacy of love and laughter will live on through them. His mother, Erlinda Balagtas, will miss the warmth and care of her son deeply, as will his sisters, Earlyn Brubaker and Heidi Mace. Bryan is preceded in death by his father, Bayani Balagtas, with whom he now rests in peace.
He dedicated many years of his life to protecting the community as a police officer in Red River County, Texas, before changing his career path to nursing. His compassion and caring spirit led him to pursue an Associate's Degree in Nursing from Galen College of Nursing, after which he became a Licensed Vocational Nurse in San Antonio.
Bryan's life was a testament to the joy of simple pleasures. He cherished time spent with family and friends, believing that these moments were the building blocks of a life well-lived.
Bryan Santos Balagtas will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. His laughter, love, and lessons will endure in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his kindness. As we bid farewell to Bryan, we also celebrate the remarkable man he was, and the countless lives he enriched with his presence. May he rest in peace, his memory a blessing to us all.
