Calissa Rose Guzman, 22, passed away suddenly on May 26, 2022 at B.A.M.C. at Fort Sam Houston, Tx. “Our hearts ache at the thought of not hearing her beautiful voice and seeing her infectious smile every day”.
She will be forever loved and missed by her surviving members of the family including her father and mother, Shirley and Leonard Guzman, her sister, Arianna Guzman, her grandmother, Juanita Moreno, her grandfather, Adolf Guzman, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was greeted in heaven by her Grandmother, Rose Guzman, Grandfather, Jesse Moreno, and other relatives who predeceased her.
Calissa was born on August 29, 1999 in Guatemala City Guatemala. She was adopted by her loving parents, Shirley and Leonard Guzman just before the age of 2. Her passion for adventure showed from the moment she entered their lives.
Calissa graduated in May 2018 from James Madison High School. While there she raised rabbits and a lamb. She also grew a very special bond with a golden retriever named Jamboree. They were so close that Jamboree crossed stage with her at her graduation. Her love of animals was evident with every moment she spent with them.
Calissa’s career goals had recently changed. She wanted to transfer to a 4 year University to pursue the study of parasites in animals. Everything she did revolved around her love of animals.
Something Calissa will be remembered for is her love of life, her personality, her love of family and friends and the joy she brought everyone she encountered. She was strong. She was a fighter. She was loved.
