

MSgt (Ret.) Calvin F. Carmichael peacefully passed away into eternal rest on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the age of 79. He was born on August 23, 1933 in Coffee Springs, Geneva County, Alabama to Frederick A. Carmichael and Fannye Myrl Medele. After marrying his high school sweetheart, Peggy A. Moring, on June 4, 1953, Calvin joined the United States Air Force. He was stationed throughout the United States, including Louisiana and Oregon, and was deployed to fight in the Vietnam War. After retiring in San Antonio, Calvin worked for USAA and started his own plumbing business. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Zachary and Irone (Stewart) Moring; wife, Peggy; daughter, Karen Patrice Tobola; brother-in-law, Billy R. Moring, and grandson, C. J. Carmichael. He is survived by his son, Steven F. Carmichael (Liz); daughter Cheryl D. Stanton (Jack); son-in-law, Frank Tobola; granddaughter, Chelsea Carmichael Ebbitt (Corey); grandsons, Christopher J. Tobola (April); and Nicholas S. Tobola (Stephanie); great-grandchildren, Beretta Ebbitt; Breven, Kaydence and Rylen Tobola; brother, J.L. Carmichael (Annette); Aunt, Myrtle McLean; sister-in-law, Genola Moring and nephew, Lucky Moring (Linda), and family in Alabama.
Visitation will be 5-8pm, Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 9:00 am, Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
