

He is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne; 2 children, Kimberly Barbour-Goodman of Austin and her husband Lorne Goodman, and Carl Curtis Barbour III of Austin; 2 grandchildren, Koury Braden Barbour and Kaley Brielle Goodman; and 2 stepsons, Brian Frederick Doehring and Christoph Sweeney Doehring of San Antonio. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lillian Barbour; and former wife Karen Koury Barbour.
Carl attended the Kinkaid School and graduated from Lamar High School. He attended New Mexico Military Academy and Oklahoma University.
Carl later went on to be an Air Force Reservist where he specialized in oral surgery. Carl was the proprietor and optician of Barbour's Professional Opticians of Houston, a family business started by his parents in the 1940's. Carl was a member of the Lions Club, Professional Opticians' Guild, Baylor College of Medicine, and served as chairman of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Steer Committee.
Carl retired in 1994 and he and Suzanne moved to San Antonio. Carl touched the lives of everyone he met and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and his dog Scruffy.
Carl was the best Dad in the world. He was so full of life and loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, skeet shooting, and his '56 T-Bird Convertible.
