Carl C. Barbour, Jr. was my cousin and I remember him to be a very nice, cheery man, and a generous person. My husband remembered the time many, many years ago, we went to his house for a family gathereing, and they both had something in common: they both like cars. Classics, hotrods. Carl, as I remember as "Skeeter" will be remembered as a man who wanted his family to have a good time in their reunions together.

We are sorry to hear of Carl's passing away. We were on vacation in the Hill Country and just returned. My friend, Mary Frances sent us a copy of the obituary. Our loving sympathy to Suzanne and his extended family. Chuck and Nan Mills

I'm not sure if you remember me -- I worked at Barbour's Opticians in the 1980's. I was so surprised when I opened up the paper yesterday and saw Carl's picture! I just want you to know that I have very fond memories of my years at Barbour's and always appreciated Carl's guidance and support, even if I was a Yankee!!

I knew Carl and many of his friends at Kinkaid. I attended New Mexico Military Institute with Carl and a number of guys from Houston. I did not know that Carl and his family had moved to San Antonio. I will never forget his deep voice, quick wit, laughter and his

Dear Family of Carl, I am so sad about your loss. I know Carl will be missed by not just the family, but, his pals as well. Carl proved his ability to extend kindness as he worked with my Daddy when we needed to fit Daddy with glasses.

Carl helped train me for my National Contact Lens Examination certification. He came to Dr. William S. Banks,III office and consulted on our contact lens patients. It was always a joy to have him in the office. I learned alot from him. I remember one year around Christmas time when Dr. Banks' children were still small, when Dr. Banks asked Carl to either record a message or call the children and be the voice of Santa Claus. He happily did this for the doctor. I have missed Carl since he moved to San Antonio. He was always such a nice guy and I am sure that he will be missed by many. My sincere condolences to the family.

A good friend... I missed him several years ago!

I knew Carl at Lamar High School in the late 50's. He was a good guy. He seemed to be more mature than the rest of us, but had the knack of maintaining a natural balance of personality and sincerity. He was the sort of person that made you proud of being around.

Too bad families lose touch.Nice memory: 
I remember Carl giving my whole family sunglasses when we all visited our aunts in Houston - Lil, Noreen, Dottie, Irene. We stayed with Irene. The internet has been wonderful to keep in touch. Our cousin Pam sent this notice to my sister, Joan. Our Dad was Lil's brother. Carl's eyes in the picture remind me of my Dad. Also Carl, his Dad. My daughter lives in Park City, Dallas. Her daughter is at Texas A & M. 
Their son is All American high school golfer for Highland Park High School, Dallas. He will be at Georgia Tech on golf scholarship in September. 
My husband, Dr. Stuart Ramsdell, and I were both widowed - married now 21 years. His daughter lives in Beaumont where she teaches high school sciences. 
Her husband died last year. He had been pastor of Beaumont Bible Church. Their two sons are at Lamar University. Stu has one other daughter. I have another daughter and a son. All live in different states. Lots of grandchildren. Blesssings and peace. Shirlie Freeman Ramsdell.

Sympathy to all family - May the Lord,indeed, comfort you all. I have known of you all through Pam. I met her through family research. Our aunts were at my dad's Jessefuneral in l968 and at Irene's home in l972 when we passed through Houston. My daughter Heidi was only 2 then. I appreciate the memories though they be few. God bless.
