Carl Wayne Thanheiser, beloved Husband, Father, Grand(Pop) and Great Grand(Pop) gained his angel wings on November 16, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Minnie Thanheiser, brother, Ronny Thanheiser, sisters, Sandra Spence and Marilyn Castleberry, son, Carl Wade Thanheiser and grandson, Zachary Thanheiser. Carl is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife, Claudia Thanheiser, children, Jerome Thanheiser and Diane Osborne, Son-in-law, Tony Osborne, Daughter-in-law, Patricia Thanheiser, grandchildren, Brittany and Kristi Osborne, Justin Thanheiser, and great grandchildren, Reagan and Remy Ortega.
Carl "Pop" Thanheiser was born in Gonzales, Texas in 1939. He became a member of Kerrville First Baptist Church when he was twelve and joined the U.S. Army when he was seventeen. He completed two tours in Vietnam, and retired as a Command Sergeant Major. Carl loved being outdoors and spending time with his family and dogs.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, December 5th, 2017 from 6pm-8pm at Sunset Funeral Home located at 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas 78218.
Chapel services will be held on Wednesday, December 6th at 9:30am at Sunset Funeral Home followed by graveside services at Fort Sam National Cemetery.
