With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Carlos C. Garza, who entered eternal rest on October 20, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on October 1, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, Carlos lived a full and joyful life surrounded by love, laughter, and cherished memories.
A lifelong learner and devoted reader, Carlos found comfort and inspiration in the world of books. His love for literature reflected the depth of his curiosity and his thoughtful spirit. Though his story on earth has come to a close, the chapters of his life will remain forever treasured by those who knew and loved him.
Carlos loved to travel—especially to places where he could be near the ocean, where the sound of the waves brought him peace. An avid jeweler, he took great pride in crafting beautiful pieces of Southwestern jewelry during his time in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His artistic nature extended beyond jewelry to a deep appreciation for art in all its forms.
Carlos is preceded in death by his parents, Juan Garza & Benita Cortez Garza; his brother, Robert Garza; and his lifelong friend and partner, Sam Scopas.
He is survived by his siblings Rodolfo Garza (Cecilia), Carolina Duenas, Maria Gutierrez (Oscar), and Gloria Hernandez (Walter Clark); as well as many beloved nieces and nephews who will continue to honor his memory.
The Memorial Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025 with a Memorial Service to be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Services will conclude in the chapel.
