With deep love and gratitude, we announce the peaceful passing of Carolyn Rogers Jaeckle, who died in her sleep on May 17, 2025, at the age of 88. Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend—remembered for her grace, generosity, faith, and strength of spirit.
Born on April 24, 1937, Carolyn led a life rooted in care for others. A proud graduate of Providence High School, Class of 1955, she went on to earn her degree in education from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s degree from Our Lady of the Lake University.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Malcolm Neill Rogers and Louise Dryden Rogers, and her beloved husband, Ronald Carl Jaeckle, with whom she shared a loving marriage until his passing in 1987. Together, they raised three children: Janet Bronocco (David), Brian Jaeckle (Jill), and Kurt Jaeckle (Monica). Carolyn took great pride and joy in her five grandchildren—Steven, Meredith, Kate, Brayden, and James—each of whom brought light and laughter into her life.
Carolyn had an extraordinary gift for bringing people together. Known for her warmth, hospitality, and skill in the kitchen, her home was often the heart of family gatherings, filled with love, laughter, and the scent of home-cooked meals. She maintained deep friendships throughout her life, including many from her grade school and high school years, as well as with members of St. Monica’s Guild, where she was an active and cherished member.
Her legacy is one of compassion, kindness, and quiet strength. Carolyn approached life with grace and purpose, offering comfort, wisdom, and unwavering support to those around her. Her door was always open for a short visit or a long stay. Being with her was easy and enjoyable. She had a great sense of humor and often laughed and made others laugh. She was a wonderful grandmother and was adored by her grandchildren who loved spending time with her.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Virginia Gomez, whose devoted and compassionate care brought comfort, dignity, and companionship to Carolyn in her later years. In addition, to Richard and Jeanne Adams, neighbors who would always put the newspaper on mom’s front step each morning, as well as Nancy Albrecht a close neighbor that had moved away, would still find time to come pick mom up and take her to lunch. Finally, we are deeply grateful to Dr. Kevin Comfort and his staff for their attentive medical care and support.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 102 Lorenz Road, San Antonio, Texas, with a reception to follow.
Father Kevin Shanahan will officiate. Interment will follow in San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Road, San Antonio Texas. Pallbearers will be Steven Bronocco, the Hon. Steve Hilbig, Brayden Jaeckle, James Jaeckle, John Jaeckle, Jr., and Edmund Jaeckle, III.
