She was born in San Antonio, to Kenneth Mayo and Marie Sholl and was known as Pee Wee to her family. She attended elementary school in San Antonio, Texas, then junior high and high school in California. She returned to Texas after graduating high school. She had a love of horses, drag racing, and dogs.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Vaughn McCarty; her aunt Marian Boubel and husband Marvin; her brother Danny Mayo; her sister Linda Davis; her stepson Chad McCarty and wife Katherine; her stepdaughter Tracy Arriola and husband Ben; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Marie Sholl; her father Kenneth Mayo; her sister, Wanda Hawthorne. She also left behind many special friends that meant a great deal to her.
Friends and family are invited to Sunset Memorial Park on Thursday, February 19 at 9:30 am for visitation with services following at 10:30 am and a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donation be made to local SPCAs in honor of one of her biggest loves, animals.
