Carolyn Elaine Pinc passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on September 13, 2024 at the age of 77. She was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Sophie Pinc, and is survived by her brother, Frank C. Pinc, her sister Andrea and brother-in-law Jim Eskin, all of San Antonio.
After graduating from Providence High School in 1965, she earned her bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of the Incarnate Word in 1969 and worked as a psychiatric nurse at Santa Rosa Hospital and Villa Rosa Psychiatric Hospital for 25 years. She later worked for Aetna Insurance until retiring in 2013.
Carolyn volunteered as an officer in the Texas State Guard Medical Brigade and was deployed to Lackland Air Force Base to assist evacuees from Hurricane Katrina in 2005. She was always ready to go wherever her nursing skills were needed, and passionate about helping people recover from crises.
Carolyn loved reading good books, photography, ice skating, writing letters to friends, giving unexpected gifts, making Christmas and birthday dinners for her family, and taking care of her favorite canine buddy, Buster Raba. She was deeply grateful for the kindness and friendship extended to her by her neighbors, who gave her tremendous joy. She offered daily prayers of gratitude for everyone who touched her life with compassion and benevolence, as well as those who struggled for solace and healing.
In addition to her brother and sister, she is survived by several cherished cousins, friends and neighbors who were dear to her heart and brightened her days. She remained deeply grateful to the many doctors, nurses, patients, and other medical colleagues who taught her to be a better nurse, and often spoke of them fondly. Despite all the challenges she faced, she remained steadfast in her faith, committed to hope, and certain of the healing power of love.
A memorial service commemorating Carolyn's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 4 in the chapel at Porter Loring Northside Mortuary. Guests will be invited to gather at her home afterwards.
To those who wish to honor Carolyn, a gift to a charity of your choice, or any act of kindness extended to a friend or stranger in her memory will be a blessing.
Well done, good and faithful servant of God. You will be honored in the memories of everyone you touched with your compassion. “In Paradisum deducant te Angeli: May the angels lead you into Paradise.”
