Carolyn T. Wilcoxen

Carolyn Ruth Thacker Wilcoxen, born July 2, 1933, passed peacefully in her home on September 28, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She and her beloved husband, Orten, celebrated 70 years of wonderful marriage. Together, they shared a life filled with a steady and strong love that will be a lasting testament to her family. Ort will tell you she was the very best wife and partner a man could ever have. She was the most amazing mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend that anyone could have had the honor to know.

Carolyn was loved beyond measure by her husband and daughters, as well as her brother, sisters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She valued those around her and there are many who will miss her profoundly.

Carolyn was the best example of what a neighbor should be. She and Ort lived on the same street in San Antonio for 56 years and are well loved by neighborhood friends. She was also a generous volunteer for several organizations: Northeast Baptist Hospital, The Agape Ministry, The San Antonio Genealogical and Historical Society Library, and awarded a lifetime membership to the PTA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Carlys G. Thacker and Margaret Louise Wegner Thacker, and her sister Sandra Louise Thacker Ayers.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Orten Bryan Wilcoxen; daughters Marlys Connor (Matt), Jeri Lynn Wilcoxen, Sandi Gay Mueller (Rod); grandchildren, Bryan Haston, Carrie Djordjevic, Evie Caroline Nichols (Jimmy), Josh Mueller (Cassie), Kelcy Palmer (Ian); great grandchildren, Madison Haston, Makenzie Haston, Maggie Djordjevic, Madeline Mueller, Oliver Mueller, Elise Mueller, Caroline Nichols, Owen Palmer, Elliott Palmer, Hailee Connor, & Jack Connor; brothers, Carlys Thacker (Glenn), Austin Thacker (Sarah); and sisters, Lisa Ballinger (Wayne) and Nina Savlov (Gary).

Memorials may be made in her honor to: The Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels.
