

Cary was born in Bangor, Maine, to Bernard and Rosaleen Robertson on November 23, 1945. He married Bonnie Tomkins on September 26, 1970, in Whitemarsh, Pennsylvania. Cary graduated from Southwestern Assemblies of God University (aka Nelson University) with a BA in Bible Studies. He served 20 years in the U.S. Army Medical Corp as a Medical Lab Technician and Instructor at the Academy of Health Sciences at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, after which he served as Bible Instructor at Teen Challenge of South Texas in San Antonio and at Monterey Bay Teen Challenge in Watsonville, California. Cary was active as Chaplain in his local Royal Ranger groups and Leader of Bible Quiz Teams in San Antonio.
Cary retired to Dallas, Texas, in 2011, and finally to San Antonio, Texas, in 2021.
Cary is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Rosaleen.
Cary is survived by Bonnie, his wife of 53 years; sons Matthew (and wife Crysti) and Jeremy; sister Janet Davidson and brother Joel Robertson; and four grandchildren, Nathaniel, Caleb, Olivia and Julia. He is also survived by his treasured companion of 11 years, long-haired chihuahua Button.
Memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 1, 2024, at the St. Anthony Chapel located in the Villa de San Antonio Retirement Community at 8103 North Hollow, San Antonio, Texas. Pastor Randy van Pay of Gateway Fellowship Church in Helotes will officiate followed by burial at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery (immediate family only). Arrangements are by Sunset Northwest Funeral Home in San Antonio, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Cary’s home church, Gateway Fellowship Church Far West (www.gfcfarwest.com/give).
Cary’s family is extremely grateful for the outpouring of love and support from friends near and far and from those that knew our dad at the Villa de San Antonio.
