

She was a founding member of St. Paul Catholic Church where she remained a member for over 40 years. She was employed with the Texas Hotel and Motel Association and Galloway Research; and later retired as an Underwriter from USAA after 20 years of service.
In addition to raising her children, she was an accomplished Seamstress and Milliner. She also enjoyed crochet and needlework. She highly valued education, and attended classes at San Antonio College for many years and was awarded an Associate of Arts Degree, imparting the importance of education to her children.
Mrs. Smyrl-Dwinell was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Smyrl and her husband, Jack Dwinell; as well as her sister, Emma Ryan; and brothers, James and Tom Darnaby.
She is survived by her children, Richard A. Smyrl, Jr. and wife, Judy, Kathy Hilliard and husband, Leonard, Herb Smyrl and wife, Jennifer, James Smyrl and wife, Ginger, and Denise Kubicek and husband, Blaine; grandchildren, Shannon Shrader and husband, Tom, Sarah Burke and husband, Chris, Jeffrey Schroeder, Andrew Hilliard, Nikki Gross and husband, Eric, Elise Lopez, Megan Zastrow and husband, Tim, Adam and Tori Wood, Heather Kubicek, Erin Cervantes and husband, Frank, Shawna Kubicek, Courtney Kubicek; great grandchildren, Mattie and Nora Jane Shrader, Mary Elizabeth and Blake Burke, Samuel and Theo Gross, Madeline Lopez, Alexandria Zastrow, Frank and Hannah Cervantes; sisters, Mary Boswell and Nita Blake and husband, Buck; numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her step-daughter, Terry Lasley and husband, Leon and family.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the care given by Griswold Special Care especially Mackenzie Colunga, Candace Nwaozuru, VITAS Hospice and Patriot Heights Retirement Center and Health Care Center.
