Catherine Ailleen Stoll, age 82, died peacefully at her home in San Antonio, Texas, Sunday June 1, 2008, following a three and one half year struggle with cancer. She was born April 13, 1926, in St. Albans, Vermont, to the late Harold Ladue of Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts and Ailleen Boyle of Montreal, Canada.
She followed her sister, Noreen, to Houston, Texas where Catherine went to work for Leon Hess of Hess Oil Company. There she met and married Fred Stoll in 1954. They lived and raised their family, first, in Houston, then Dallas and finally in St. Joseph, Missouri before separating in 1984. While in St. Joseph, Catherine served as the office manager of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where she made many lasting friendships.
She moved to San Antonio in 1992 to be near her children and grandchildren. A thrifty soul, her sharp wit and strong spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Catherine is survived by her three children; John and wife, Peggy of San Antonio, Texas, Chris and wife, Lisa of Dripping Springs, Texas, and Karen of Austin, Texas; sisters, Noreen Corrigan and Eleanor Senesac of St. Albans, Vermont; brother, Harold Ladue of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren, Travis and Connor Stoll of San Antonio, Texas, Conrad, Brady, Katie and Christopher Stoll of Dripping Springs, Texas; and her former husband, Fred Stoll of New Braunfels, Texas.
Catherine and her family are deeply grateful to the wonderful caregivers of Christus VNA Hospice. In addition, the compassion and expertise provided by Drs. David Gordon, Richard Fischer, Fred Massey and Mark Nelson was greatly appreciated.
The family greatly appreciates the sentiment; however, they request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Christus VNA Hospice, 4241 Woodcock Dr., Ste. A-100, San Antonio, Texas 78228-1328.
