Why do you think of a person decades after meeting him, having never gotten to know him? Today I was thinking of Mr. Curry, a man that my mother introduced to me when I was a young boy, probably 45 years ago. I now know that Mr. Curry had the Joy of the Lord, and made a lasting impact on those he met, even a young lad so many years ago. I am 55 years old now, and seek to know God as well as Mr. Curry did. I look forward to seeing him again in heaven.

My father, Wally Dickson, served with Mr. Curry in the Gideons. I met Buddy several times, but one in particular stood out. He and my father were on their way to pass out Bibles at a school when I got sick with a migraine at work. They picked me up and Mr. Curry said the most comforting prayer, and I felt better immediately. Each time I spoke with Mr. Curry, he had a great peace about him. He was the perfect example of what an excellent Christian should be. I know he must be deeply missed.

Buddy was a good friend and I know I will see him again. I will think of him every time I go to a ball game.

I met "Grandpa Buddy" eight years ago, when I started dating his grandson Joe Curry Jr. The minute I met him, I was welcomed with open arms. He always had wonderful words to share about the Lord, and everything in general. I remember this one time Joe and his family and I had gone to San Antonio to stay with Buddy because we were going to go to a Texas Rangers Baseball game, and Buddy made it very clear, that he did not want Joe and I to sleep in the same bed. So, Joe and I slept in twin beds, in the same room :o I can remember Christmas's where it was so important for the family to all come together and sing Christmas Carols. Those were precious memories. I also remember every time I would see Buddy, he would ask when Joe and I were getting married. We did get engaged, and Buddy said "Praise God". I am so sorry that Buddy will not be here "physically" for our wedding, but I know he will be there in spirit and in heart. I am so thankful for the time I got to spend with him and for the wonderful memories we have all shared. I feel as though, everytime I hugged Buddy, I was hugging an angel. I know for sure he is in heaven serving God, and an angel watching over each and everyone of us.

Susie and Bobby, my deepest heartfelt sympathy for you and your family. I will always remember our days with your dad at Buddy's and still the best chicken fried steaks in town. I am sure he will be sorely missed. Pattie

Remember many happy hours spent chatting with Buddy both at his home, at the Boy Scout Park, and at various local "coffee spots." He was more than a salesman for Americhem to me -- he was a true friend. I still have his fone number on my watch even tho it has been over 10 years since I left the park!! Mr. Curry, whom we all knew simply as "Buddy", will always be remembered in the hearts of many of us who grew up in the 50's and "hung out" at Buddy's. Our prayers are with you!!!!!!

To all of Buddy's Family and Friends, I remember Buddy since I was 11 yrs. old..and all thru Jeff Hi 1951 graduate we ate at his place..best french fries in the world...he was always so kind to us, always stopped and sat with us and inquired how we were and then did bragging on his children...he was a wonderful person and I have him tucked away in my memories of fine, sweet , honest people. Our deepsest condolences to the Curry family and all of Buddy's friends. Buddy was our salesperson at Americhem. Whenever Buddy was called to The Alley for service it was always a pleasure to see him. He was an expert in customer service,prompt and polite. Buddy would always have a big smile and often an amusing anecdote for us. He would always "praise God" when we had news of some good fortune that we might happen to share with him. I recall our last coversation about a month ago when Buddy called to apologize to us because he was ill and would not be able to service our company any longer. I promised him my prayers during his illness and asked for his prayers in return. I remembered my promise and I know that Buddy will keep his as well. "Praise God". Anne Tait

Buddy is one of the most gracious Christians I have ever met. He was the first Gideon in the San Antonio Camp I came to know in 1971 when I moved to San Antonio. I remember with great pleasure the many Gideon services we conducted together. One I recall well was Dr Dan Thor's first Gideon speaking service in a small Baptist church in the City. Buddy and were along as prayer partners, and also agreed to help Dan ensure he stayed within his allotted 5 minutes. Unbeknownst to Buddy and I was the fact the pastor leaned over and told Dan he could have the whole service after the two were already on the platform. As the time limit approached -- and then passed -- and our signals went unnoticed for at least 10 minutes more, Buddy said "I am getting out of here, this will be a bloodbath", and he sneaked out the back door, shortly followed by me. We have laughed over that incident many times. Buddy was a true brother in Christ, and one who will not be forgotten. His memory is precious to me.

You were my Buddy for over 50 years. I will treasure our many many memories and I will miss you very much. I Love You Buddy.

Buddy was my best friend in High School.We were in the same fraternity 
and doubled dated a lot of times.Will never forget him and all the wonderful times we had together.

For my friend Tom Vincent and I, Buddy's was our second home back in the late 50's. Buddy had such a positive influence on both our lives. He was a combination of a second father and a big brother. Most of our great Jefferson High School memories center around Buddy's Drive Inn. We would both give anything to have a couple of Buddy's hamburgers today. God bless you, Buddy.

I remember how Buddy loved to show his wonderful home city to any and all vistors. He made sure you wanted to come back and see more. I always considered it such a priviledge that Buddy and Marilyn invited me to Buddy's High School reunion during one of my visits. Dennis and I will certainly miss his many works and always feel he was a "workaholic" for the Lord. May his example be multiplied.

Buddy was "Jefferson High School's Greatest Memory" for my class of 1959 and so many more classes. My dad also loved Buddy and went there often to visit with him. I would have loved to have had contact with him during the last years to tell him just how much he meant to all of us. I am thankful that we have this way to convey our feelings to his family. There is no high school memory with out Buddy being a part of it.

Buddy established the place that is one of the strongest high school memories for several generations of Jeffersonites. He affected a ton of us and gave us one of our favorite memories. I am among the many grateful for those happy times.

I have so very many fond memories of Mr.Curry. Growing up on Dalehurst, spending the majority of my time with LouAnn and Lela, playing around the neighborhood. The best times were spent at your house and cleaning tables at Buddy's Hamburgers, then being rewarded with those wonderful burgers. What a very special man are Mr. Curry, and I honestly believe you were sent from Heaven to care for us all. No matter how busy you were, trying so hard to raise your children, you always made sure that everyone was included, when it came to having fun. I have not seen your family in such a very long time, but the memories have never left, and never will. So very often, I tell my kids about the fun I used to have with your kids and how all the girls, in the neighborhood, had a crush on Danny. Thank you, Mr. Curry for all those wonderful memories. I know You have had a very full life, have given so graciously and unselfishly, so now, Mr.Curry, may you rest in peace. My love Always, Patti Jones

I have fond memories of working at Buddy's when I was in high school. I still have a bible Buddy gave me for Christmas in 1969. He was a special person.

Grandpa Curry is one of the most important person to me in my life. Without him I would not of become the person I am today. Without him I would not of known the Lord as I do today. I remember getting up and waiting for him to come to my house when I was 7years old to go to church with him and my Aunt Sally. I looked forward to this every week. It ment so much to me to of had him with me the day I was Baptised. Everytime I talked to Grandpa he & I would always talk about that. It was very important to him as well as for me for him to be there. He will always be in my heart. I thank God for giving me the Best Grandfather in the world.

My deepest condolences to Buddy's family, you are all in my prayers. I was only 7 or 8 when I met Buddy for the first time and I liked him from the start. I went to work for him when I was 14 years old as a carhop at his place on Vance Jackson. Buddy was not only a wonderful person to work for but also an absolutely wonderful man to know. His very presence brought joy to my heart. He was always smiling and had a way of making one feel like someone special. On many occasion Buddy gave me loving, fatherly advice, as I had never received from my own father. 
Yes, we?ve lost a dear loved one, but Heaven has gained an angel!

My condolences to the family of Buddy Curry. I worked for him for 15 years and my 4 sisters all worked for him at one time or another. He was like a family member to us. He was one great guy and will be missed by everyone. Pat Brauchle Timmons
