Charles R. Jones, Jr. born June 3, 1937 in San Antonio, TX passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 1, 2016, at his home with family by his side. Charles was the eldest son of Charles Robert Jones Sr. and Gladys Ann (Horn) Jones.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his wife, Annie Mae (Kuntscher) Jones. Charles was a 27-year employee of Generations Federal Credit Union, previously City Employees, where he held the position of loan officer. He enjoyed the interaction between the members of the credit union during the loan process, listening to their problems and doing his best to help them, plus dispensing some advice on how to save money. He was always interested in the on-goings of city government and was never shy to discuss most any subject with the members (namely his Dallas Cowboys, history, the economy, politics and any subject of the members choosing).
A well-read man, Charles started reading at an early age, something he continued throughout his life consuming some 20,000 to 30,000 books. He loved science fiction, fiction and history novels and enjoyed the daily paper, magazines and any financial publication. Those who came in contact with him were always amazed that he only had a high school (Burbank High School) education, possessing an array of knowledge on numerous subjects. He enjoyed family get-togethers, Mexican food, pot roast, watching the Spurs and Cowboys and his son taking him out to their weekly lunch at Sausilito's on Nacogdoches Road. Charles was also an avid gardener and loved his vegetable garden. He enjoyed giving away peppers, tomatoes, green beans, and other vegetables to family, friends, and co-workers, who always looked forward to them.
He is survived by his three sons, Robert, Eric (Cheryl) and Brian, his two grandsons and their respective spouses, Ryan (Kayla), Kyle (Danielle), his two brothers, and their wives; David (Nancy), James (Patti) plus numerous nieces and nephews.
