Born May 29, 1919 in Ashville, NC. He was raised in Victoria, Texas and attended Texas A&M.
He served in World War II with the Army Air Corps and the U.S. Air Force until retirement in 1963.
After retirement Charles taught high school physics and math in Hyannis, Massachusetts and later in La Port, Texas.
He has been living in San Antonio since 1980 where he enjoyed volunteering at The Texas Institute of Culture, working in his yard, and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Sylvia C. Flynn in January 2003.
He is survived by their daughter, Marcia E. Carlow and son-in-law, Gene Carlow of New Braunfels, Texas and son, David R. Flynn and daughter-in-law, Debra Flynn of League City, Texas; two grandchildren, Melissa Palomo of San Antonio, Texas and David Lema of Memphis, Tennessee; 3 great-grandchildren; his only brother J.W. Bill Flynn and sister-in-law, Velna Flynn of Houston, Texas.
Col. Flynn was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who loved him.
