

Charles was educated in Arkansas public schools. He married his wife of 70 years, the previous Josephine Allen on May 8, 1937, while attending Arkansas A&M in Magnolia, Arkansas.
In World War II he was a combat pilot of B-24 Liberators in the 15th Air Force in Italy. Shot down in March 1945, he was credited with saving the lives of incapacitated crewmembers by piloting his damaged aircraft to safe a landing behind Russian lines.
After the war, Charles became a CPA and spent his professional career in San Antonio serving the Osborn Oil Company. He retired as President of Osborn Heirs Company Limited at age 71.
Charles was a founding member of Sunset Ridge Church of Christ in 1949, and became one of the first Elders in 1952. He was a Rotarian, Boy Scout Troop leader, and an avid outdoorsman.
He is survived by his precious wife, Josephine; their son, Charles Jr. or "Skipper", and wife, Janita, of Austin; brothers, Joe Watson and wife, Trudy, of Austin; and Fred Watson and wife, Pat, of Seguin; sister, Jane Watson of San Antonio; and sister-in-law, Betty Watson, of San Antonio; and the many others whose lives he touched.
