Our Mom, Charlotte Estelle (Pultorak) Mazur (age 90) passed away peacefully on June 21, 2021, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born to Frank and Rosalia Pultorak on April 18, 1931, and grew up in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. She married the love of her life, Walter J Mazur on October 7, 1951. As Walt was career Army, she followed him to Denver, Colorado, Panama, Germany and then to San Antonio, Texas, where they made their home for the last 57 years. During this time, she made a home for their three children, Rosalie, Walter Francis and Richard Stanley and worked for the Baptist Memorial Hospital System. Early on in her work career, she worked in the Pathology department, transcribing the pathologists notes and then worked for Mr. Fred Ganzel as his assistant/secretary. She retired from the Baptist Memorial Hospital System after more than 20 years.
Once retired, Mom took care of her husband, who was suffering from cancer and the numerous cats and dogs they had accumulated. She loved animals and was forever picking up strays. We were forever telling her to take down the “Cat Motel” sign, as cats seemed to bring their babies to her. She would find homes for her strays with her family, place ads in the paper and ensure that her “pets” had good homes to go to or keep them. She had a great love of anything that was a newborn, especially kittens, dogs or fawns. Mom in her later years, suffered from the Alzheimers disease but she always loved having her family visit, especially the grandchildren and the great-grandchildren. Because of Covid, the visits decreased, but she was still in contact through phone calls and pictures of their smiling faces. Ever the gracious lady, Mom always had a smile for anyone she met for no one was a stranger.
Mom was preceded in death by her beloved, Walt; her parents Frank and Rosalia Pultorak; her brothers, Frank (his wife Laura), Charles (his wife Irene), Johnny (his wife Dorothea), and Joseph (his wife Bertha); her sisters, Rose Kuniewicz (her husband Joseph), Helen Stelmach (her husband Joseph), Sophia (Sue) McCall (her husband John) and Clara Rose Mordeczko (her husband Peter).
Mom is survived by her daughter, Rosalie Mazur Koger (and her husband Brett), her sons, Walter Francis Mazur and Richard Stanley Mazur (and his wife Leticia). She has six grandchildren, Jonathan Albert and Kelsey Elaine Koger, Walter Andrew and Stephen Anthony Mazur, Michael Paul Mazur and Erin Nicole McCullough (and her husband Mike). She also has three great-grandchildren, Elijah (Eli), Madeline (Maddie) and Aiden McCullough. Mom is also survived by her sister-in-laws, Angeline Lindsey (and husband Herbert), Rosemary Constantino (and husband Dominic) and Mary Larken (and husband Alex). She also has a multitude of nieces and nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Shavano Park Senior Living and to the Hope Hospice for their kindness and care to our Mom. We especially want to thank the caregivers, Sarah, Felma and Ivy for their constant and loving care while Mom was in their care. Rosalie and Walter also want to especially thank Richard and Leticia for the spiritual, loving and constant care they gave to Mom while she resided in Shavano Park Senior Living.
A private interment will be held for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation in Charlotte’s honor to Alzheimer's Association | Alzheimer's Disease & Dementia Help
