

She graduated from Incarnate Word High School and received her bachelor and master degrees from Incarnate Word College. Mrs. Hopwood taught school in Marion, Converse, Helotes and Randolph Field.
During WWII, she was a censor for the U.S. Postal Service. Mrs. Hopwood retired from Alamo Heights School District, after many years as an English teacher at the Middle School.
She will be well remembered by many students, whom she encouraged and influenced. Mrs. Hopwood was a life member of Blue Bird Auxiliary of Methodist Hospital, San Antonio Garden Center, National Council of State Garden Clubs and Texas Garden Clubs, Inc.
She was also a Charter member and Past President of Holly Garden Club. In 1961, she was named "Woman of the Year" in Gardening by the San Antonio Express-News. She was also a member of the Conservation Society, Prickly Pear Garden Club, San Antonio Council of Nationally Accredited Flower Show Judges and was qualified as an international flower show Judge. Mrs. Hopwood was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Frank P. Hopwood. Survived by: sister, Elizabeth A. Betty Neal; niece, Kathy Lindsay; great-niece, Sarah Ness and her son, Jacob Sanders. The family will receive friends Wednesday Evening from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock at Porter Loring on McCullough
