Chris Jackson was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on March 26, 1947, to Dorothy Ann and Robert L. Jackson. His family relocated to San Antonio, Texas when Chris was a very young boy making him a Texan for life. Chris served his country entering the U.S. Navy at the age of 18. Completing two tours in Vietnam, he came home and joined the San Antonio Police Department where he proudly served for 32 years. After retirement from the SAPD, he continued in law enforcement working as security at the San Antonio Airport and for Omega Security for another 16 years.
In 1978 he married the love of his life, Alma Perez Castillo, and they celebrated 43 years of marriage at the time of his death. He was happiest when Alma was at his side. Together they raised 3 children, Tony Castillo, Cathy (Jackson) Yarbrough and Kelly (Jackson) Tyson. His children from a previous marriage include Sonia (Jackson) Rye, Donna (Jackson) Elstak, Jennifer Jackson and Monica Jackson. He leaves behind two sisters, Pamela White and Jaime Magrane and one brother, Tommy Magrane, and numerous grandchildren. Chris is reunited with his parents and sister Michelle (Shelly) Shea who passed away in 2020. Chris loved his family greatly and never left his house without telling his wife, kids, or grandchildren that he loved them.
Love for God and country was a way of life for Chris. He was active in ministry, talking about God to anyone who would listen. He made friends through the years who respected his love for God and he was instrumental in leading many souls to Jesus. Chris had many hobbies, but a desire to grow plants from cuttings became his passion and he loved offering such to his friends, family and neighbors. Computers and electronics were also in his circle of fascination. He frequently assisted others needing help with computer issues. Chris could be sarcastic and witty, but his personality was unmatched. He also possessed a kind and loving side of him that comforted anyone who spent time with him.
Chris will be greatly missed by all who knew him. We look forward to seeing him again as we each strive to live according to the word of God.
