

Christopher Wade Martin born March 24, 1965 passed away suddenly of natural causes in San Antonio, Texas on February 29, 2016. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kristan Ovitz Thomson & his step-father Patrick Reed Thomson; grandparents Constance Thomson Rothe and Vernetta & Ernest Ovitz. He is survived by his children Mina Kristin Martin & Justin Patrick Martin and their mother Nicola Tsalikis of Hannover, Germany; his sister Paige Martin Bender (Reed) and their son Evan Bender of Round Rock, Texas, his aunt Lydia Ovitz Powell (Rachel) of San Antonio, and his cousins Jody Powell (Kami), their children Savannah and Vaughn of San Antonio, and Mykil Powell Hamann (Justen) of Castle Rock, Colorado and their children Raegan and Rylan.
Wade was born in Honolulu, HI but spent his formative years growing up in Del Rio, Texas. He graduated from Del Rio High School in 1983. From there, he enrolled at Baylor University and then Texas State Technical College where he received his Associates degree. He enlisted into the US Navy and proudly served his country throughout the world for 20 years. Wade worked supporting communications systems for the Armed Forces Network and command communications. He was stationed in Memphis, TN; Keflavik, Iceland; Souda Bay, Greece, Washington, DC; Sigonella, Italy, the USS LaSalle, USS Mt. Whitney, and Rota, Spain. He also worked as a civilian supporting the military in Mannheim and Stuttgart Germany. He had a knack for picking up languages and thoroughly enjoyed travelling & living abroad, meeting people from all walks of life. He retired in San Antonio in 2013.
Wade had a very musical nature and held a life-long love for music beginning in high school. He was in marching band, choir, and garage bands. Other than spending time with his children, he was happiest playing in bands and making music for friends. Wade had a great sense of humor and enjoyed looking at the world through an ironic filter.
His children Mina and Justin were a central part of his life. He loved them beyond measure.
The family would like to thank his many friends from all over the world who have shared their remembrances of Wade.
