

“Whoever believeth in me shall have everlasting life.” Claude J. Laughlin, Jr., age 94, went to be with the Lord on July 20, 2015. He was born on March 7, 1921 in Rocky Ford, CO. He graduated high school in 1939. In 1940-41 he attended Colorado State College of Education. He left school to volunteer in the U.S. Army during WWII where he served in the South Pacific and leaving with the rank of SSGT after 42 months. He later joined the Reserves and left the rank of 1St LT. In 1943 he married Virginia L. Lay and 1945 returned to finish his education receiving a BA / MA in Math with a double minor in English and History. In 1949 he and Jinny moved to Cheyenne, WY to begin his Civil Service career. In 1949 their daughter Lyn was born. In 1954 they were transferred to Mississippi to the Air Force Headquarters Air Training Command. Thus begins his long dedicated service to the United States. In 1958 the family moved to San Antonio, TX. He career involved working with the space programs, fighter jets, the titan missiles and many others. In 1959 they had their second daughter Jill. His job took him around the world training and developing stimulators for these various programs. He loved his job.
Claude dedicated his life serving God through his church and through many organizations including, Urban Ministries, Housing for Disabled, Kiwanis, Food Bank and others.
He will be remembered by many for his compassion, love, friendship and service, and his hugs.
Claude is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Jenny Laughlin; two daughters, Lyn Joseph & husband Duke and Jill Laughlin; and several other family members.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be at 12 noon, Monday, July 27, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.sunsetfuneralhomesa.com.
