He was a lifetime resident of San Antonio where he attended Churchill High School, then joined the Army in 1998. SSG Bowen was an Airborne Infantryman, and also served in the 82nd Airborne All American Chorus, and as a drill sergeant. He was very patriotic and a dedicated soldier. Clay was the recipient of the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Bowen.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Reesa and Buddy Doebbler; step-brother, Troy Doebbler; grandmothers, Lorraine Carlson and Mildred Doebbler; grandfather, Johnny Carlson; and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
