Clotilde "Tillie" Persyn

Clotilde “Tillie” Michiels Persyn, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister went to be with her Lord on October 18, 2011 at the age of 95. Her life was long and full with many happy memories. Tillie was born at home on December 16, 1915 in San Antonio, Texas to Polidor and Ida Dauwe Michiels, one of seven daughters. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Darson Persyn, Sr. They had a difficult yet wonderful life working their farm together. She was a devout Catholic, serving in many capacities at St. John Berchmans, St Luke’s and at the school her children attended. She was a proud charter member of the Belgian-American Club. Tillie is survived by her sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Mendez, Agnes Grothues, Paula and Arthur Grothues, Cecilia Stevens, Lucille Lane. Left to cherish her memory are her children, and their spouses, Doris and Roland De Winne, Betty and Aldor Lanctot, Nancy and Fred Wood, Darson and Peggy Persyn, Jr., Lynn Persyn and David McGilvray, 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Special thanks to the staff of Regent Care on Medical Drive, for their loving care and attention. Also special thanks to Dr. Rodney Carry, Shaun Manning, Samantha Velasquez and Asumpta. Visitation will begin from 6:00 P.M to 9:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 21, 2011 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou Drive with Rev. Jim Barlow officiating. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery # 2.
