

Our precious, beloved father and grandfather, and U.S. Retired Army Colonel, John (Jack) Clarence Funk, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 12, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas and is preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 67 years, Helen Funk; son Keith; and grandchildren Jordan Funk and Christi Funk. Jack was a graduate of Temple University where he was a Hall of Fame gymnast and following college, completed a distinguished thirty-year career as a veteran of the U.S Army, where he proudly served in the medical field, saving lives in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. Following Jack’s military career, he served as Vice President at Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio, and then moved to Corpus Christi to serve in the same capacity at Memorial Medical Center. Jack truly lived life to the fullest and was an avid fisherman, antique collector, and participated in many veteran/civilian organizations. He was proud to be a member of the Korean War Veterans Association and had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. Jack led by example on what it meant to be a man of God, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, teaching life lessons along the way. Jack is survived by his children Jeff Funk and wife Julie, Scott Funk and wife Michele, Tim Funk, Cheryl Funk, Doug Funk and wife Michelle, and John Funk, fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Jack will be remembered by those whose lives he touched with his dedication and love of family. Family services will be held on Wednesday, April 21st at Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Leon Springs, Texas. Those wishing to remember and commemorate the wonderful life of Ret.
