

Colleen was born July 3, 1924 as the only child of Harry and Betty Stafford in Minneapolis, MN. Colleen met the love of her life, Warren, whom she married and shared her life with for 64 wonderful years.
She was a devoted military wife and loving mother. Acknowledging her devotion to family, Colleen was the nominee from Biggs AFB for El Paso's Mother of the Year. She was active in the Officers' Wives' Club, the Red Cross and was a Grey Lady working at various military hospitals.
In 1954, she took part in the Kinderlift Program in Europe which placed children from Berlin into American homes.
In 2001, Colleen and her husband Warren moved to San Antonio from Wichita Falls, Texas.
Colleen loved San Antonio. She began her new life here and met many new friends along the way. Colleen always believed in the power of the individual and that everyone has many gifts to share. She was a powerful proponent of volunteerism. Colleen took pride in the fact that she knit over 1,000 hats for the homeless and she was a member of The Assistance League of San Antonio.
At age 85, Colleen decided to take up quilting. She joined the "Sew"ldier's Quilting Group which provides quilts for wounded warriors.
Colleen was preceded in death by her husband Warren, her parents and grandson Gregory.
Colleen leaves behind her beloved children, Terry and wife Judy, Richard and wife Cyndi, Kathleen, Patrick and wife Lisa, Mary and Maureen (Mo). She has seven grandchildren Mark, Rebecca and husband Greg, Sara and husband Justin, Mike, Katie, Audra and Jack and five great grandchildren, Emma, Ryan, John, Jacob, and Brooklyn. Colleen is also survived by her nieces Cassandra Hopkins de Gutierrez and Rebeca Hopkins de Rivera of Hermosillo, Mexico.
Colleen will be remembered as a sweet, loving and caring Mother. She was such a cute little thing! The family would especially like to thank Dr. Manuel Santiago for the special care, love, and comfort he gave to our Mother and family for many years. We thank Father Fidele Dikete for the wonderful spiritual counsel and love he provided our Mother.
Visitation will be held at Porter Loring North Funeral home located at 2101 N. Loop 1604 E @ Gold Canyon on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary. A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with a private burial at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
