

Connie Lynn Taylor Pace of San Antonio passed away with loving family by her side on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at the age of 75 years. Connie was born December 23, 1946, in Ft. Worth Texas to Albert Quince Taylor and Jane Conn Lander Taylor.
Connie is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, David L. "Rusty" Pace, daughter, Krista Dorn (Tony Zahtila) of New Braunfels, TX, brother George A. Taylor (Candy), of Seguin, TX, grandsons Brandon T. Fanning and Bradley T. Fanning (Daryan), great grandchildren, Grayson and Layla Fanning, all of San Antonio, TX, Aunt and Uncle, George and Betsey Dykes of Austin, TX and cousins Becky Kuykendall (Don) of Austin, TX, and Dale Dykes (Lesa) of Grapeland, TX. She is also survived by numerous cousins and nephews.
Connie graduated from Port Lavaca High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Education from Trinity University. Following her dreams of teaching children, along with her love for books, Connie taught at Boerne High School in Boerne, TX, St. Lukes Episcopal School in San Antonio, TX, Cambridge Elementary and Howard Early Childhood Center, both in Alamo Heights ISD in San Antonio, TX. She returned to the University of Texas at Austin to complete her Library Certification and she then became a librarian for Horace Mann Middle School in the San Antonio Independent School District. Her dream came true when she opened Bob Lewis Elementary School in Northside ISD and was personally responsible for choosing each book in the new library. After 4 years at Bob Lewis Elementary and 31 full years in education, she retired in 2004 to enjoy a more relaxing life and travel the world with Rusty.
Throughout Connies life she generously gave her time, money and compassionate spirit to numerous organizations and volunteer efforts. Some of her achievements and involvements include membership as a Worthy Matron Capitol Chapter #803 Order of the Eastern Star in Austin, TX. Long time storyteller in her very own Connie Taylor Pace Story Place at Mammen Family Library (formerly Bulverde-Spring Branch Library), member of the Texas Library Association, including Tall Texans. Sorority member of Alpha Omicron Pi, Pace Family Foundation Donor to Baptist University of the Americas, and community members of San Antonio Junior Forum, Impact San Antonio, along with many others.
Connie loved Jesus and spent her entire life serving Him in various capacities. She was an active member in every church she attended and participated in numerous bible study groups. She spent several years involved in the Walk to Emmaus community, to include becoming a Lay Director.
Connies family would like to give a special thanks to all her friends and family for the love and support they gave throughout this entire journey. An extra special thanks to the nurses and caregivers at The Haven in Stone Oak and Anchorage Hospice for the exceptional care they gave her since last September. They were true angels here on Earth.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Jane Taylor, son, Sammy Pace, and nephew, Dean Steger. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
