

Concepcion (Connie) Saenz, age 79, passed away unexpectedly on February 10, 2018 in San Antonio TX. She was a lifelong resident of San Antonio and a proud graduate of Fox Tech High School Class of 1956. She earned her Associate's Degree from San Antonio College and was a loyal civil service employee, retiring in 2003.
Connie was very active after retirement and made friends everywhere she went. She was very involved with the local Alamo chapter and national chapter of the American Begonia Society. She enjoyed traveling to their conventions and sharing her love, knowledge, and clippings of plants with others. She was a lifelong student and regularly attended classes at the Academy of Learning in Retirement (ALIR), especially painting and cooking classes. She would proudly display her works of art at the end of each term. Her favorite hobbies included gardening, painting, visiting art museums, traveling, bargain shopping, spending time with her beloved grandchildren, and chatting with her family and friends. She made every holiday special and will be forever in our hearts.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Consuelo Medrano, brother Raymond Medrano Jr, and sisters Delores Loredo and Minerva Medrano. She is survived by her children, son Mark and Gail Saenz, daughter Melissa Nashawati and husband Bassam, and daughter Michelle Haas and husband Charles. Her four grandchildren filled her heart with joy - Stefanie and Mark Saenz Jr, and Stefan and Ilyan Nashawati. She also leaves behind a large extended family and many cherished friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 20th at 6:00 pm with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 pm at Porter Loring Mortuary North Chapel. The funeral mass will be Wednesday, February 21st at 10:00 am at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
